hi sweet friends! My name is MiCaela (you can call me Mick) and I'm an elopement + destination wedding photographer based in Colorado, but I travel worldwide for love stories! I'm an avid memory-maker, love enthusiast, and down for any crazy adventure outdoors!
I am so happy you are here!
Imagine contacting your photographer a week before your intimate wedding in Golden, Colorado! Well that’s exactly what Beth and Dillon did when they reached out to me in May to photograph their gorgeous intimate ceremony next to Clear Creek River that runs through Lions Park in Golden, Colorado. I absolutely love spontaneous adventures and it’s obvious that Beth and Dillon love the same thing!
THEIR LOVE STORY
Beth was hanging out with some gal pals for some post-climbing beers at Clear Creek in Golden, Colorado.. the place where they actually ended up saying their i dos! Dillon got invited by friends to show up, so he ended up crashing girl time, which Beth was not stoked on. He thought she was cute, but Beth had just gone through a bad breakup and didn’t want attractive friends. They ended up becoming best friends in spite of this and eventually, Beth’s dog Winnie brought the couple together!
Dillon then proposed on a deep water solo cliff in Spain! Beth was scared of climbing and so all of the feels were present when he popped the question. There’s no doubt that this couple is ready for a life full of adventures with each other!
THE WEDDING
Even though the intimate wedding was in late May; Colorado weather had a different story for their intimate wedding day. We ended up getting a bit of snow flurries and misting throughout their ceremony. Beth and Dillon were troopers through the whole thing was really only focused on getting married and celebrating with their family that day.
Beth and Dillon just got their first built out van and so to tell a bit of their story in this point in time we did their first look where they will have the first of many adventures as a married couple…in their built out van!! It was such a precious reveal and such a special moment to have a first look in a special place to them.
Their intimate wedding venue was at Lions Park in Golden, Colorado and it was so special to be right up against the river with their closest friends and family…even if it was a bit colder and wetter than anticipated. The ceremony was short and sweet and full of lots of love all around them.
Even though the intimate ceremony was short and sweet, the intimate wedding ideas they had planned throughout the whole day was full of intentionality and excitement to celebrate the love story that they have built together.
Overall, being an intimate wedding photographer brings so much excitement and joy to me because I get to take the ideas for an intimate wedding and help my couples create the magical day that they are hoping for and ALSO get to capture their love story and special moments so that they can then last forever and ever. Beth and Dillon wanted to remember the adventure that life has taken them on up until now and we got to capture that together.
Beth’s advice to future brides:
“Remember what really matters and focus on that.”
I love that this is her advice to future brides because in the wedding planning process, whether it’s a big wedding or an intimate wedding, it can still be easy to get sucked into the world of planning a perfect day. And even though there is nothing wrong with planning your perfect day, ultimately the most important part of your wedding day is going to be marrying the love of your life and starting a new adventure together. And that’s the advice Beth even took on her own wedding day. They could have been stressing about the rain and snow, but instead they were hyper-focused on each other and the friends and family that was surrounding them. And that is what made the day even more special and intimate.
